I really love taking wine classes with Lisa.  Like many people, I liked wine, but didn’t really know a lot about it.  I knew what I liked, and was open to trying new things, but I never really had a base knowledge of wine that informed my decisions.  I thought that taking a wine class would be a good way to spend a night catching up with some friends and doing something a little bit different and fun.  But, it was so much more than that.  Lisa has such a relaxed and approachable way about her teaching, that while you feel like you’re just enjoying some wine, you’re learning every moment!  It’s such a help to be able to better identify and explain what exactly I like about certain wines, and Lisa gave me the tools to do that.  One of my favorite things is that Lisa discussed wines that are readily-available in stores at an accessible price point.  So, you can use what you learn with Lisa on your very next night out or trip to pick up a bottle.  I can’t recommend her classes highly enough!

I'm a first generation Italian American who wanted a better understanding of my cultural heritage. After working with Lisa after only a few weeks, I developed  a profound understanding of not only the Italian culture but also of the sensitivities Italians face and ways in which they wished to be understood.  Lisa's superb mastery of the Italian language, food, mannerisms and rich history packaged all step-by-step, left me so inspired I booked a 3- week vacation with my family to Tuscany! Following that experience I returned to the region to lead a leadership retreat for women who also wished to immerse themselves in Italia!

I've been taking Italian lessons with Lisa for two years. She is flexible with when and where we meet and further, teaches me in the way that I learn best. Lisa tailors each lesson around what I know and what I want to learn. She has helped me overcome topics that have been great obstacles for me in the past. I studied Italian in high school and after 10 years without speaking Italian, I started taking lessons with Lisa to prepare for a family vacation. We were visiting relatives in Italy, who I would be meeting for the first time. After about 6 months of lessons with Lisa, I went on the trip and couldn’t believe how much Italian I knew in practice. I was able to speak with relatives and learn about my family history in their language. That experience was invaluable. Learning Italian grown beyond that short term goal for me, and I’ve continued studying with Lisa well beyond that trip to challenge myself.”

Thanks to the enthusiasm of my most of my relatives in Italy for speaking English (especially the kids) and that [mild expletive] Google translate, on my more recent trips there, not only have I not been challenged to recall and speak the moderate amount of Italian I knew, but also have heard less spoken. With Lisa's lessons I have been able to re-learn and build. What I appreciate from her first is the genuine enthusiasm she brings each time she meets with us. She always tries to find some interesting topic or a novel way to approach what we are covering that day and making it relevant. Lisa and I have partnered on food and wine tastings: creamy ricotta, pumpkin, honey and sage toasts with a fruity Viognier; gluten-free pistachio cake and sugar plum jam with dry Albarino... whatever the flavors, Lisa is a delight to work with! Her professionalism, knowledge of wine and easy sense of humor will put you at ease so that you can do what you came here to do: eat, drink, laugh and learn!

I did not think much of the language until I went to Italy and heard it.  Lisa made this class fun! I enjoyed the class overall- great people!

Lisa makes learning Italian more approachable and less intimidating. She is very kind and helpful and has a sincere love for all things Italian – culture, food, art and its endearing people. As someone with strong Italian heritage, I personally appreciate her authentic passion for Italy. She clearly is fluent in Italian and teaches others in a fun and interesting way. I would highly recommend her Bootcamp class to people who want to get a taste for learning Italian (and who want to have fun in the process)!

For the last year, I have been trying to learn Italian using several Language Apps without success.  Nothing ever stuck.  I was always too intimidated to take a real language class - but Lisa makes you feel so comfortable that you forget all insecurities.  I feel I have made great strides in my progress by taking her class.

And learning from home has been a great experience, saving travel time/expense.  It was fun to learn alongside my fellow students.  Lisa created a welcoming environment via Zoom for us where we all felt connected, there was good energy between us and we all felt supported.

I took the beginner course with four friends ahead of a planned trip to Italy.Lisa was a great instructor who managed to keep all of us on track while still making each class fun!She made sure we had the basics of Italian language, but also made sure to cover things like kinds of wine and traffic directions we’d likely see since we would be renting a car on our trip.I’d definitely recommend Immerse Italy to anyone looking to start learning or refresh their Italian skills!

 Great to connect with my friends on a fun Zoom and something different to learn a new language in preparation for our trip to Tuscany in May 2022!  We definitely will be taking Lisa’s class again in preparation for our trip.
